David Yutaka Takehara, L.A., Calif., passed away at age 78 on August 21, 2024 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Kazue and Torataro; brothers Saburo and Yoneo. Funeral services will be held at LA Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple (Nishi), 815 E. 1st St., Los Angeles, CA. on Sat. Sept. 14th at 4 p.m. under direction of Kubota Mortuary (213) 749-1449.

David was the beloved husband of Yohko for just 8 days short of 48 years.He was the father of Dennis, Denise, and Dan (Kazu) with Colleen (Winston) Chu. Proud Grandfather of Ashley (John), Jordan (Jaqlynne), Shawn and Brandon & Shane (Jasmin) and great-grandfather of Christopher, Kaden & Keilani; and is survived by 2 brothers Umio Takehara and Ken Hattori (Sherri), and many other nieces, nephews, and relatives.

David worked temporarily for Von's full time for 23 years while attending night school and raising 3 children. David graduated from CSULA with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and worked for the Public Health Department until his retirement as Chief EHS. He was admired and loved by his employees and co-workers because of his passion to teach and train.
