He is survived by his wife, Haruko Higa; children, Scott (Susan), Ben and Megumi Higa; grandsons, Nathan and Alex Higa; siblings, Yasuko (Jihei) Kishimoto, and Masanao, Michiko and Hitoshi (Yumiko) Higa, all of Japan; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives in the US and Japan.
