Marjorie Misato Morikawa was born November 30, 1920, and grew up in Venice, California. Upon graduation from Venice High School, she went to Japan to care for her grandfather. She returned in 1952 to America, marrying Mitsuru Morikawa on April 23, 1953. They resided in WLA and had three children, Diane, Gregg, and Mark. She ran the Senior Citizen's Lunch Program at the WLA Community Center, for which she received the Pioneer Women Award from Councilmember Bill Rosendahl.

She passed away peacefully at home on August 18, 2013 at the age of 92 with Jason, Jaclyn, and Quy at her side. She is survived by her children, Diane (Tim) Sumarnkant, Gregg and Mark (Ewa) Morikawa; grandchildren, Eric, Jason, Jaclyn, Randy, Chase, Junie, and Karie; siblings, Shig (Donna) Nakagiri, Bob Nakagiri, Jane Shintani, and June (Jimmy) Akioka; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
